Sweet Sleep and Waking Naturally

There's something magical about waking up without an alarm. During the pandemic, there was a period where I was sleeping in and having trouble going to bed at night. I didn't have any where I needed to be and got stuck in a rut. The way I got this backwards sleep/wake cycle corrected was by incorporating more physical activity, outdoors whenever possible, into my day. It's amazing how some fresh air and some sweat can help me go to bed at night. What's been interesting is I've been naturally waking up around the same time everyday even when I go to sleep a little later. My body is just like okay that's a wrap on sleep and I open my eyes and ease into my day. And I still have nowhere I need to be! I'm excited to wake up each day and kick ass and take names. lol

I look forward to being up earlier during the hot months since the coolness of the mornings is so inviting. I want to get outside before the day gets too warm and really enjoy my time in nature. It reminds me of mornings on beach vacations after spending all day in the sun. The breeze and crispness is a sharp contrast to the long hot day. I also look forward to the evenings when things cool down. This is when I enjoy a nice paddle in the kayak the most. It also helps soothe me and get me ready for bed. Plus, kayaking is great exercise! Yes. I believe this it truly living.

When it comes to waking up without an alarm, I just feel like the day is starting out much kinder. Alarms are a bit rude and startling. Sometimes, the abruptness of waking up to an alarm puts me in a less than great mood, which I may end up carrying with me the rest of the day. So I will savor these days where I can trust myself to wake up when I am meant to and not be forced to set 10 alarms to get me where I need to be. It is definitely a taste of true happiness.
